November 13, 2012 – Trestle Group Foundation today announced an innovative partnership with Swisscontact and Equity Bank – with human capital provided by Credit Suisse – that will provide direct support to Tanzanian women entrepreneurs in 3 vital areas:
1. Knowledge Transfer – Access to Expertise, Networks and Resources
The program will partner high-potential women-led entrepreneurs with established business executives from Credit Suisse – who will help build the skills, strategies, practices and networks needed to overcome barriers to growth, and achieve long-term success. These “flagship” entrepreneurs will serve as champions and role models to inspire and support other women entrepreneurs.
2. Capacity Building & Skills Development
Based on market and focus group research, the program will create a customized mass business and entrepreneurship training for 250 start-up stage women entrepreneurs. Additionally, Equity Bank will establish the Equity Bank Women in Business Cub to build a network, community and support for these entrepreneurs when the training is complete.
3. Access to Finance
Based market and focus group research, Equity Bank will create and distribute a new financial product – Fanikisha+ loans – specifically designed for these women entrepreneurs, as well as the broader Tanzanian woman SME market.
